Split airport is not in Split: it sits near Kaštela, 6 km from Trogir and about 25 km from Split's old town. That geography decides the answer. Trogir is a short hop by bus or taxi; Split is half an hour by car; Makarska, Brela or Podgora are 70–100 km down the coast, where public transport means a change in Split.

The terminal
Split has a single passenger terminal. Buses, taxis and ride-hailing pick-ups are all directly outside arrivals; in July and August the queues at the taxi rank and the app pick-up point are long in the evening.
Bus and shuttle
Bus 37 is the local Promet Split line between Split and Trogir via the airport. It is very cheap — €1.50 in the Promet app — but it stops often and takes about 50 minutes to Split. Towards Trogir it is the obvious choice.
The dedicated airport shuttle coach to Split’s ferry port was run by Pleso Prijevoz for years. In 2026 reports conflict: several say it stopped in early 2026 and a new operator replaced it. Check on arrival before counting on it.
Taxi and apps
Taxi fares to Split range widely in 2026 reports, from about €30 to €55. Uber and Bolt both work and are often cheaper outside the peak, but surge pricing on summer evenings can put them level with a taxi.
Where a transfer wins
The Makarska Riviera — Brela, Baška Voda, Makarska, Tučepi, Podgora — and Šibenik or Rogoznica up the coast. These are 50–100 km away; by bus you go into Split first and change, which can take three hours with a flight-day’s luggage. See the table above for distances and prices.
Our take
- Trogir — bus 37 or a short taxi.
- Split old town, light luggage — bus 37 or the shuttle, if it runs.
- Split with a family, or a late arrival — taxi or app; a booked car costs about the same and is waiting.
- Anywhere on the Riviera — book the transfer.

Frequent questions
How much is a transfer from SPU to Split?
On 21 October 2026 the lowest price in Kiwitaxi's form was €54 per vehicle for 24 km, about 30 minutes on the road. The final price depends on your date, vehicle class and party size — the form shows it before you pay.
What if my flight to SPU is delayed?
The driver tracks the flight by its number and arrives for the actual landing. Kiwitaxi includes 90 minutes of free waiting at the airport.
Where does the driver meet me?
In the arrivals hall of Split, holding a sign with your name on it. The driver's contact details arrive in advance, usually the day before the trip.
Is the price final?
Yes. Tolls and airport parking are already included. You only pay extra for options you choose yourself: a child seat, oversized luggage.
Can I cancel a booking?
With Kiwitaxi, cancellation is free up to 16 hours before pickup for standard cars and minivans, and up to 24 hours for business class and minibuses. The exact terms are shown at checkout.
Why is this better than a taxi at the rank?
The price is known upfront and does not depend on traffic or the time of day, the car is already booked, and the driver is waiting for you specifically. In an unfamiliar city, with luggage in hand, that is noticeably calmer.
