Denpasar (Bali) (Ngurah Rai) airport to Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud: bus, train, taxi or transfer
| Option | Cost | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official airport taxi counter | ≈ IDR 150,000–350,000 to Seminyak; ≈ 350,000–650,000 to Ubud | 30–60 min to Seminyak | Getting out quickly with a printed fixed fare |
| Grab / Gojek | ≈ IDR 100,000–240,000 to Seminyak, plus airport fee | 30–60 min | Light travellers who know the pick-up rules |
| Trans Metro Dewata bus | ≈ IDR 4,400 | ≈ 1 h to Ubung terminal, Denpasar | Denpasar only; not the beach areas or Ubud |
| Pre-booked transfer | from €22 per car (Kiwitaxi, 21 October 2026) | ≈ 20 min | Late arrivals, children, heavy luggage, groups |
Bali has no train and almost no useful public transport from Ngurah Rai, so the real choice is between three kinds of car: the official taxi counter, a ride-hailing app, or a car booked in advance. The distances are short — Kuta is 5 km, Seminyak about 11 — but the traffic is famous, and the road to Ubud can take three hours at the wrong time of day.

The terminals
Ngurah Rai has an international and a domestic terminal side by side. Both have taxi counters inside arrivals.
Taxi counter
The official counter (Koptax) sells a fixed fare by zone: you pay at the desk and get a slip. It is the fastest way out of the airport, but not the cheapest — 2026 figures for Seminyak range from about IDR 150,000 to 350,000, and Ubud costs two to three times that.
Grab and Gojek
The apps are usually the cheapest car. Pick-up rules at the airport have changed several times — sometimes a designated zone a few minutes’ walk from arrivals, sometimes not allowed at all — so check the current point in the app before you accept a ride. Expect a small airport exit fee on top.
Bus
The Trans Metro Dewata buses are very cheap but go to Denpasar’s Ubung terminal, not to Seminyak, Canggu or Ubud. For most visitors they are not a practical option.
Where a transfer wins
The price of a booked car is in the same range as the taxi counter (see the table above). What it adds is a fixed pick-up: no counter queue, no hunting for the app zone with luggage, and a driver who waits if the flight is late — which matters most for Ubud, Uluwatu and night arrivals.
Our take
- Seminyak or Kuta, light bags, the app set up — Grab or Gojek.
- In a hurry and not price-sensitive — the official counter.
- Ubud, a family, a night flight — book the transfer.

Frequent questions
How much is a transfer from DPS to Nusa Dua?
On 21 October 2026 the lowest price in Kiwitaxi's form was €22 per vehicle for 19 km, about 50 minutes on the road. The final price depends on your date, vehicle class and party size — the form shows it before you pay.
What if my flight to DPS is delayed?
The driver tracks the flight by its number and arrives for the actual landing. Kiwitaxi includes 90 minutes of free waiting at the airport.
Where does the driver meet me?
In the arrivals hall of Denpasar (Bali) (Ngurah Rai), holding a sign with your name on it. The driver's contact details arrive in advance, usually the day before the trip.
Is the price final?
Yes. Tolls and airport parking are already included. You only pay extra for options you choose yourself: a child seat, oversized luggage.
Can I cancel a booking?
With Kiwitaxi, cancellation is free up to 16 hours before pickup for standard cars and minivans, and up to 24 hours for business class and minibuses. The exact terms are shown at checkout.
Why is this better than a taxi at the rank?
The price is known upfront and does not depend on traffic or the time of day, the car is already booked, and the driver is waiting for you specifically. In an unfamiliar city, with luggage in hand, that is noticeably calmer.
